hi friends, this post will give you details about auto configuring d-link modem to connect bsnl broad band.
Insert the CD came with your modem.
- Then you can see the interface shown below
- Click on the start button
- It will take some time to start, wait patiently. For me it took 5min
Power up the Device
- Connect the ADSL Cable (Telephone Cable) to modem.
- If your connection don't have any problem then the DSL LED will blink for some time and then it light as shown in figure.
Connect the device to computer using LAN cable
ISP confguration
Select the values as shown in figure below.
Give your broadband account name and password
The account name will be like this "id10giti phone number_scdrid" (no space) and your password is "password".
Set wireless connection
- Give wireless SSID as you like (This name will be displayed when you switch on your wifi )
- Select Channel : any value
- Network Authentication: Please don't leave it none, because your neighbors may connect internet through your modem and they can even hack your system.
- WEP key : you can use auto generated key or give your own key.
- Note down SSID and key
Checking Connection
- If every thing is fine the internet light will blink green
- If you given wrong user name or password this LED will be RED
Finished
Now you can connect to internet.

Hi, I'm using BSNL Home 500 Combo Plan speed upto 2 Mbps, with the same modem. My problem is that the internet connection goes to disconnect & reconnect after some times & this process is going on. Besides it can't give proper speed; its almost 10-20 kbps & very few times 200 kbps. Is my modem defected or any settings problem?
ReplyDeleteHi Sujay hope you followed all the steps I described above. Some times connection may lose and speed will reduce due to damage on the telephone cable. (it happened to me). If you are getting any disturbance in Land phone during call change the telephone cable that is coming to your main junction box. (call bsnl cc)
DeleteIf you are living in rural area at least 20 KM away from main town you will not get the exact connection speed they mentioned.

Deletehey i followed all the steps...but at last when the procedure completes at 100 percent...there is a pop up that says "check your dsl and internet settings"..and the last light on the router turns red...sometimes yellow..and sometimes is completely off...can u tell me what the problem is ?? have i missed something during installation ???? i am using MTNL...I HAD RESET THE ROUTER MANY TIMES AND TRIED AGAIN.....please can u help me with this !!

hey i have d'link 2730U modem... its working fine 3 to 4 months but after something happen then its link leg is flashing continuously and can't stable so than my modem show unconfigured.. 100 time i configure it but still it show unconfigured what to do can you tell me.. i am using now UT300R2U it connect with same link but not my 2730U

DeleteI purchased Dlink DSL-2730U Modem. Even after settings change, Internet is not working. DSL LED light is continously Blinking & Not getting steady. Problem is not with BSNL Phone Line as on the same line my Old ZTE modem is working well is steady DSL LED & Internet is working well.
ReplyDeleteIf the problem is not with the telephone line and since your old phone ZTE is modem is not working, there may be some mistake in your new modem configuration. Make sure you given the correct user name and password.

ReplyDeleteAt the end of the set up i am getting the error "internet connection failed. verify your username and password or contact the service provider". The same user name and password works perfectly fine with UT300R2U modem and the internet connection also works fine with this modem. But i am unable to connect using DLINK 2730U
