How to control your childs internet access with the help of your D-Link modem

Are you so much worried that your child is accessing unwanted websites and he is accessing during study time (probably you will not bee in home at this time). Here I am giving a solution to prevent these by configuring your modem.

Filtering URL

• I am using D-link DSL-2730U Wireless N ADSL2+Router modem. 

1. Access the modem configuration interface by typing http://192.168.1.1 in your web browser's address field.
2. Give the user name and password both as 'admin',Then you will reach a web page as shown below. 

3. Click on advanced setup link on top left .
4. Then click on Url Filter link.Then a page like the one shown below will appear.

5. Click on add button then in the URL address filed give the url of website that your child should not access.
6. Leave the Port Number field blank, it will be 80 by default.
7  .Click on Apply/Save button.

Restricting  Access Time

   To prevent child accessing internet during study time.

1. Follow step 1 to 3 of above description
2. Click on Parental control
3. Click on add button then an interface shown below will be appear. 

    4. Check the check box corresponding to the day and give the blocking time .
    5.  Click apply

How to configure your system to download torrent during night time and shut down automatically in day time

    Hi I am using BSNL broad band connection. I have night unlimited usage. Since I am an early sleeper and late bloomer,  I want to schedule  my PC to wake up @ 2.00 am and start download and shut down @ 8.00 am.(automatically). So lets start.

Windows Task Scheduler

        This is a utility comes with all version of windows. You can use this tool to schedule a task and lots of customizations are available.

 go to : Start>Control Panel>All Control Panel Items>Administrative Tools>Task Scheduler
you can see a window like this.

Creating a Task

•  Click Create Task on top right corner of the Task Scheduler window.
• Then a pop up window as shown below will appear.
• Give a name to the task 
• check Run whether user is logged on or not radio as sh won below.

• Now click the triggers tab and fill in  the details as shown below

• Click on actions tab and fill the details as show below

• Click on conditions tab and fill the details as shown below 

• Click on setting tab and fill the details as shown below 

• Then click OK, at this time the system will ask your user name and password, give it.Now your task is ready 

• Put the system in sleep mode before you go to sleep, then the system will wake up automatically at the desired time and start downloading torrent. 

Important

• If you shut down the system it will not wake up. (put in sleep  mode)
• Make sure that power supply and modem is switched own 
• Even though the system starts running the program on scheduled time, screen will be blank. You need to manually log in to the system. 
• If you check for uTorrent in system tray it will not be there, It is running in the background. So you need to click UTorrent.exe file to open it. After opening, it will check the file and show thee progress. 

How to make the system shut down after the free usage period .

• Go to Task Scheduler as described above . Click on create new task and give the details as shown below.

Important 

•  If you are logged in to the system, the system will show a message one minute before shutting down and you can't stop the shut down process. So don't forget to save your files.
